SEX offenders, addicts and burglars are still dodging prison despite their shocking criminal records.

One yob with 219 convictions walked free even though he had breached an Anti-Social Behaviour Order 118 times.

In another case, a sex offender who broke the terms of an order ten times still managed to evade a jail sentence.

The revelations of how some of the nation’s worst offenders sidestep prison will fuel the debate on whether the criminal justice system is too soft.

Peter Cuthbertson, Director of the Centre for Crime Prevention, said: “It is a disgrace that every day soft sentences are given to serious and prolific offenders.

“The public needs protection from those who repeatedly commit robbery and sex offences.

“Instead we see prolific criminals having jail sentences suspended or given fines or community sentences.

“This is a real miscarriage of justice that must be brought to an end.” […]
