THE cop who arrested a wedding day rapist freed early to strike again has said the sex attacker should have been jailed for 20 years.

Det Sgt Paul Lofts nabbed Derry McCann when he was 17 for a sick knife point sex attack on a 30 year old woman in 2006.

The Sun revealed his life sentence was commuted to nine years on appeal and he was released in 2015 only to pounce again in January just hours before his wedding to Harry Kane’s cousin which we also exclusively told. […]

Peter Cuthbertson, of the Centre for Crime Prevention, said: “At 17 someone can be married, serve in the armed forces and drive a car – so treating that as a reason to be lenient towards serious crimes is ridiculous.

“There should be proper scrutiny of the parole board members who made this decision to release him as soon as possible, and how they got it so wrong.”
